Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) are likely to meet for peace at the end of July, according to a source who asked not to be named.

Delegation led by Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae, chairman of the National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee and the SSPP representative team led by its vice-chair Sao Khun Sai met in Mongnawng of Southern Shan State on July 14.

The SSPP has registered to attend the peace talk invited by the Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in April.

There were ten EAOs that replied to attend, of which Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his teams have met with nine groups including RCSS/SSP, NMSP (Mon), KNU/KNLA-PC, UWSA, NDAA, ALP, PNLO, LDU and DKBA.

However, Kachin Independent Army (KIA), ABSDF, CNF and KNU refused the Army Chief’s peace invitation.
