The Japanese national Toru Kubota who violated immigration law and visa regulations of the host country, Myanmar, and even participated in the anti-government protest in July has been charged by the court with seven years imprisonment yesterday (October 6), authorities told the media.
He was sentenced seven years imprisonment under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code and 33 (a) of Electronic Transactions Law, according to the authority.
The Japanese national is still on trial for the case that was filed under 13 (1) of the Immigration Law.
Toru Kubota was detained by the Myanmar authority on July 30, 2022.
He entered Yangon by tourist visa via the Thai border on July 1, 2022. He made an appointment with the protestors to meet at the protest site and took part in the protest.
