Myanmar plans to export 200,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh, Africa and China

Prime Minister of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that relevant departments are conducting to export 200,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh; the rice export plan will be expanded to Africa and China markets.

He addressed it during the Myanmar Rice Conference 2022 held at Naypyidaw on 6th October.

Myanmar was popular in exporting rice before independence and stood as one of the top rice-exporting countries worldwide. In 1930, the country exported 3.5m tons of rice, Senior General said.

In 2017-18 FY, the country exported 3.6m tons of rice to 64 countries.

In 2022-23 FY, we exported 500,000 tons of rice and 360,000 tons of broken rice to 38 countries within six months, he continued.

He also stated that Myanmar rice was exported to Africa and European countries in previous recent months; and now the market can be expanded to among Asian nations.
