Myanmar records 2100 deaths in traffic crashes within nine months

According to the statistics released by the Department of Road Transport Administration, at least 2100 died in accident crashes in states/regions and on the Yangon-Mandalay Express way within nine months from January to September. The figure decreases when comparing to last year.
There were 4,284 vehicle collisions, 5,911 injured cases and 2,102 deaths within previous nine months. In fact, there were 4,836 vehicle collisions and 2,398 deaths in 2021 from January to September.
Among the accident list, highest numbers of traffic crashes were from Yangon Region with 720 cases where Kayah State had the least number with four vehicle collisions.
Ayeyarwady Region had highest numbers in injures with 999 injured persons. Again, Kayah was the least injury incidents with only three.
For the mortality rate, Mandalay was second highest with 303 following Yangon with 339 deaths; Bago sits the third highest with 252 deaths.
Total vehicle numbers in Myanmar that are legally registered at states/regions and districts offices of the Ministry of Transport and Communications as of September is over 72,000,000.
