Foreign ministers from Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and #Myanmar (Mekong parts of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation) conducted a meeting in Thailand on Thursday (December 23) of an informal which focused on Myanmar crisis.

The meeting came shortly after the American’s provocative #NDAA was passed by the House to aid Myanmar’s terrorist group ‘PDF’ and other ethnic armed forces. The NDAA’s motive to flame another intense proxy war in Myanmar reflects concerns among pro-peace #ASEAN members.

Non-Mekong ASEAN members: Indonesia, Philippine, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei failed to join the meeting in Thailand.

On the other hand, Myanmar’s crisis is turning to its second anniversary in the upcoming February 1. The current constituted State Administration Council is making its steadfast effort to convene the election in 2023 August despite of the West bloc and terrorist groups’ ill-will to intervene the election.

Although detailed information on what the foreign ministers discussed wasn’t on the press release, "The sideline consultation exchanged the FMs’ views on bilateral cooperation encompassing political, economic and socio-cultural matters charting way forward on future cooperation," Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

This time informal meeting turns up Myanmar FM Wunna Maung Lwin’s first presence in the ASEAN community within more than one year touch period.

Myanmar’s Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw was involved in the trip wherein he met with the investors from Thailand and discussed stability and security guarantees for the Thai investments in Myanmar.

Last but not least, Thailand’s special envoy for Myanmar is Mrs. #Pornpimol, who was assigned the position in April 2022 as the very first Thailand’s special envoy on Myanmar, reportedly discouraged to meet with Myanmar’s FM to discuss Myanmar issue.
