Army Chief says ‘2020 electoral fraud was a blemish in Myanmar democratic road’

The Chairman of the State Administration Council as well as the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing remarked the electoral fraud occurred in the #2020_election spoiled the potentiality of the democratic movement of the country and was a #blemish in the country’s history.

He underlined it during his speech addressed on January 6 when he met with cabinet members and the chief ministers of the states and regions in Naypyidaw.

The national census shall be collected if necessary as the accuracy of the statistics will play crucial in the upcoming election, he added.

‘Vote or no vote is the individual choice’, he said, ‘but it is the responsibility of the government to proceed ensuring for not losing a suffrage for everyone.’

On the other hand, there are threats and pressures that will ruin or destroy the upcoming election by the forces from the so-called opposition sides but the terrorists indeed.

The Union Election Commission announced that the next election will be convened under Proportional Representation electoral system.
