Myanmar tries to rescue 21 Myanmar nationals who trafficked in Philippines

The State Administration Council announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making best effort to rescue and repatriate the 21 Myanmar Nationals who were trafficked to work in online game industry in Philippines.

These 21 Myanmar people were persuaded to work in the online gaming industry in Philippines. Later, they were forced to work in the workplace.

The Myanmar national victims were rescued by Philippine National Police and for the time being, Myanmar Embassy in Philippine is planning to repatriate these victims. Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that they are coordinating with the related departments for their repatriation.

As per information on 15th February, four of the 21 trafficked persons have already back to Myanmar with assistance of authorities from both countries.

According to the MOFA statement, the Myanmar Embassy is conducting necessary procedures by coordinating with other related departments and organizations and making negotiations to repatriate the remaining 17 Myanmar nationals who are being human trafficked.
