12 died, 83 wounded in terror acts happened in traditional Water Festival (2023)

During the Water Festival for 1384 ME, a total of 12 civilians died and 83 were injured, as per the data reported, in the terrorist acts targeting the water pavilions across the country.

Water splashing pavilions and entertainment pavilions throughout the country were subjected to terror plots by PDF terrorists from April 13 to 16.

On 13th April (First Day of Thingyan), the #PDF_terrorists exploded bombs near the entry gate at the Yan Taing Aung pagoda car park located in Lashio Township in Shan State. The incident happened close to the Lashio Central Pavilion.

Four died and 11 others were wounded including children in the terror incident, according to the data released by the State Administration Council (SAC).

Also on 13th April, while the villagers and children were throwing water happily in front of the Basic Education Middle School in Kyalpon Village located in Sagaing Region, the PDF terrorists dropped 4 bombs by drones, in which, eight civilians including five children died and 31 others were injured, as per the SAC statistics.

On 15th April (Third Day of Thingyan), the Loikaw Central Entertainment pavilion organized by the Kayah Region government was attacked by a drone bomb by the PDF terrorists; in which, altogether 28 civilians were wounded.

Also on 15th April, the PDF terrorists dropped two bombs from the drones to the place where civilians were throwing water to each other and enjoying their time near the community hall in Ngwe Twin Village located in Ayardaw Township in Sagaing Region. A total of 13 villagers were wounded in the attack.

Therefore, a total of 12 civilians died and 83 were wounded within the four-day festival time due to the terrorist attacks at the water pavilions attacked by the PDF terrorists.

Those terrorist acts are committing the war crimes, the SAC remarks.

The PDF terrorists threatened the public not to enjoy the traditional New Year Festival not only this year but also previous years (2022 and 2021). However, this year Thingyan was celebrated more ardently rather than that of last year by the public despite of accelerating threats.
