KNU (Karen National Union) Headquarters released the news that the meeting between its former chairman General Saw Mutu Say Poe and the Chairman of the State Administration Council has no association or involvement with the KNU.

The KNU Headquarters released the announcement on 2nd October.

On 30th September, the team led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met and held peace talks with the team led by Saw Mutu Say Poe in Naypyidaw.

The KNU released the news that their meeting has no association or involvement with the KNU and they are not going to have political negotiations with the Myanmar Military.

The KNU stated in the announcement that “The Military is intended to break the strength of the KNU and to create skepticism among its alliances fighting to take down and terminate the dictatorship.”

However, the SAC Chairman Army Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing commented that the meeting with the former KNU chairman General Saw Mutu Say Poe is a very constructive step to achieve the nationwide peace including Kayin State.

The SAC recently announced that Saw Mutu Say Poe convinced that the peace has to be implemented through the NCA path and the comments and remarks that are said to contaminate the NCA with irresponsibly nature are rejected and unacceptable.

The recent peace talks with the SAC Chairman were attended by former KNU CEC member Padoh Saw Rogar Khin, former Doo Pla Yar District Chairman Padoh Saw Shwe Maung, together with the former Chairman of KNU General Saw Mutu Say Poe.
