Senior General, Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs discuss border stability

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Mr. Sun Weidong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China held a talk on tranquility on borderline areas.

The talk was held in the morning of January 5th in Naypyidaw.

During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing process for stability and peace in the Myanmar-China border territories, and enhancement of the bilateral cooperation.

Myanmar Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo and Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sun Weidong met on January 5 at 4:30 pm at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held a bilateral dialogue between Myanmar and China.

During the meeting, they discussed the continuation of the Myanmar-China bilateral cooperation projects, escalating the implementations of the projects under the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor and the Silk Road.


In addition, they discussed continuing the cooperation for the stability and peace of the Myanmar-China border region, and the promotion of cooperation under the framework of ASEAN and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Regional Mechanism.

In addition, they discussed mutual support and cooperation issues between Myanmar and China on the regional and international fronts.

Discussions were held to continue efforts to stabilize the Myanmar-China border, however, clashes are currently occurring on the China-Myanmar border, and some towns and military security bases have been seized by ethnic armed groups.
