Detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi remarked ‘conflicting views aren’t a problem’ and urged to restore the unity and have discussion, on April 18 when she came to the special court in Naypyidaw to have her statement on the corruption charge she is alleged, a source with knowledge of the case told the NP News.
Lawyers from both sides submitted their final arguments today on the court case in which former Yangon Region chief Phyo Min Thein bribed Suu Kyi with gold and U.S dollars.
The source said, “Today, lawyers from the two sides submit their final arguments on the case filed as per the statement made by U Phyo Min Thein; verdict will be made on April 26 whether the case is framing of charge.”
Suu Kyi has been filed under Anti-Corruption Law for accepting USD 600,000 and 7 viss (11.4 kg) of gold within 2017-2018 (NLD ruling period) from the former Yangon chief Phyo Min Thein.
She refused before the court that nothing could drive her to accept gold and dollars from the ex-Yangon chief, but all are fabrications and she is herself guiltless in this.
Aung San Suu Kyi, 76, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment, and has also been charged with other offenses.
