Home Affairs Ministry adds new 46 districts nationwide

The Ministry of Home Affairs of the State Administration Council announced on April 30 extending new 46 districts throughout the country to have more efficient administration.
New districts are expanded and reorganized for performing more efficiently and effectively in the regional development and executive processes following the progressive State’s politics, administration, social and economic developments.
New 46 districts are added on April 30 by the orders made by the Home Affairs Ministry as per Section 54 and 284 (b) of the 2008 Constitution. Previously the country has 75 districts in total.
Yangon was formerly composed of four districts. Ten more districts have been added in Yangon with Botahtaung, Dagon Myothit, Twantay, Kyautada, Mayangone, Kamayut, Taikyi, Hlegu, Mhawbi and Mingalardone districts.
Mandalay Region was formerly composed of seven districts. Thabeikkyin, Tada-U, Aung Myay Tharzan, and Amarapura districts have been expanded.
Naypyidaw was formerly composed of Ottara and Dekkhina districts. Pyinmana and Zayyarthiri districts are added in the reorganization.
Therefore, there are a total of 121 districts in Myanmar in this new reorganization.
