The Union Minister of the Ministry of Health Dr. Thet Khine Win revealed the plan to renovate the National Herbal Park (Naypyidaw) into a public relaxation zone.

The park is located in Zabuthiri Township on the bank of Pyimana-Taungnyo Road.

It is the biggest herbal garden in the country having 196.4 acres. The park was officially opened on January 4, 2008.

National Herbal Park is situated at a strategic point in Naypyidaw. It is a great place for people where they can study traditional medicines or they can relax. Therefore, necessary renovation projects are being carried out in this rainy season so that the park can be opened in the opening season for the public, Dr. Thet Khine Win said.

A traditional medical clinic will also be opened in the relaxation zone. The park is designated to renovate and preserve as a bona fide medicinal plants garden where scholars can explore their extensive research.

There are a total of nine herbal parks in Myanmar under the control of the Department of Traditional Medicine of the Ministry of Health. They are National Herbal Park (Naypyidaw Union Territory) and Yezin Botanical Garden; Yedagon Mountain, Phaungtaw, Sepauk, and University of Traditional Medicine botanical gardens from Mandalay Region; Ywathargyi, and Gyogone botanical gardens in Yangon Region; and Myeik Kantharyar botanical garden in Tanintharyi Region. A total of approximately 270,000 species of medicinal herbs are planted.
