Government keeps eyes for security at Martyrs’ Mausoleum on July 19

Come July 19, the 75th Martyrs’ Day of the country. Government is very cautious on security role on the commemoration day of the country’s woe amid the political crisis period.

Union Minister of the Ministry of Religion and Culture Ko Ko notified the Central Committee to Convene 75th Martyrs’ Day to have the security alert when he met with the committee members on June 18 at Yangon Region Government Office urging them to conduct the commemoration as per the Covid-19 regulations and security procedures.

On July 19, the State will be conducting placing memorial wreaths at the Martyrs’ Mausoleum located in Yangon, hoisting the State flag at half-mast at the building of Ministers’ Office located in Yangon, and offering food ceremonies for the demise of the country’s national heroes in Yangon and Naypyidaw.

This year, Bogyoke Aung San Museums located in both Yangon where he last resided before assassination and Natmauk where his childhood was spent will be opened for the public exhibitions. Also, the meeting room from the Ministers’ Office where the national heroes were assassinated will also be exhibited, according to the Minister Ko Ko.

The martyrs’ ancestors, diplomats, political parties and NGOs will be prioritized in invitation for the commemoration.

On July 19, 1947, General Aung San, Thakhin Mya, Dedok U Ba Cho, U Razak, Mann Ba Khine, Mongpawn Sawbwagyi Sao San Htun, U Ba Win, U Ohn Maung and Ye Baw Ko Htwe were shot and assassinated under multiple gunshots.
