The Kachin State Chief Minister Khet Htain Nan disclosed that trading processes at Kan Pite Ti gate located on the Myanmar-China borderline are still experiencing stagnation.
The chief minister told this information during the meeting held on July 26.
Trade flows via Kan Pite Ti and Lwejel border trade gates take key shares of Kachin State’s commodity flows to China, the chief minister said.
“Currently, only about 60 vehicles can enter through the Kan Pite Ti border gate on daily basis. Although more than 800 trailers have been approved for the entry of more export vehicles and more cargo operations at the terminal, there are delays in trade operations,” said Khet Htain Nan.
Therefore, the members of the state-level work committee are coordinating for making border trade faster to carry out the processes quickly and smoothly.
As of May 2022-2023 financial year, the trade volume via the Lwejel border gate in Kachin State amounted to 38.925 million USD, while that of the Kan Pite Ti border gate was 26.169 million USD.
