Myanmar, Russia discuss in-depth on geopolitics, strengthening multipolar world order

The meeting held yesterday (August 3) in Naypyidaw by the top rank leaders of Russia and Myanmar discussed in-depth on geopolitical situation that is emerging against the background of the unprecedented sanctions unleashed by the West group, according to the Foreign Ministry of Russia.

Russia’s Sergey Lavrov confirmed the need for coordinated steps to strengthen a multipolar world order based on the equality of all members of the international community, respect for the UN Charter, and the standards and principles of international law during the talk with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, as stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“We have a solid foundation for the further development of our cooperation in a broad range of spheres,” said Sergey Lavrov as quoted by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, the Plan of Consultations (2022-2024) between the two nations was signed and exchanged by the two foreign ministers. The plan will enhance collaboration between the two countries offering opportunities to synergize and coordinate in bilateral and multilateral arenas on core issues of common interests.

During the visit of the Russian foreign minister to Myanmar, a wide range of issues related to politics, trade, investment, and interaction in defense and security were discussed.

500 Russian-made monkeypox test kits were gifted by Russia to Myanmar as humanitarian assistance.
