Top leaders of members of the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) apart from Kachin Independence Army (KIA) appeared to meet in recent days in Wa territory, according to source close to the MNDAA.

United Wa State Army (UWSA), National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP), Arakan Army (AA), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) involved in the meeting.

However, the ethnic armed forces of the FPNCC that conducted meeting did not release any press statement regarding with the meeting.

Chairman of the Arakan Front Party Dr. Aye Maung expects that the discussion between top leaders of the FPNCC in this time would bring better outcomes to some extent and there might be possibility that the SSPP would join the second-round peace talk with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

“Northern peace lies in the FPNCC. There are seven members in it. In this meeting of the top leaders of the FPNCC, I think the Wa group might present about what they discussed with the government delegation in the first-time peace talk. And they might get opinions and perspectives of the allied groups for the second-round peace talk. Again, they might discuss and exchange individual’s standpoint for the Union affairs. The SSPP might also be involved in the second-round peace talk with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing,” Dr. Aye Maung said.

At present, the Army Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing invited the EAO leaders to discuss peace in April 2022.

Ten ethnic armed forces attended the peace talk in the first-round. Among the FPNCC members, UWSA, NDAA and SSPP joined the discussion.

The FPNCC was organized and led by the UWSA in 2019.

The FPNCC is formed for the political concurrence not for military alliance, the UWSA said.

The FPNCC is organized by the UWSA, NDAA, MNDAA, KIA, SSPP, TNLA and AA.
