Myanmar tries cross border power lines with India

The Ministry of Electric Power of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is carrying out projects to build cross-border interconnection with India for the country’s electrification, the deputy minister Dr. Aung Zeya said during the 4th Meeting of the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) on Myanmar-India Cooperation in the Power Sector on September 17.

The projects are aimed to improve the country’s power sector and fulfill the power needs of the people, the deputy minister said.

The ministry is also carrying out to meet the country’s Sustainable Development Goals in the electricity sector; and generate power from renewable energy, solar power project, energy efficiency, and small-scale power distribution system for rural areas.

Capacity-building programs are conducted for upgrading human resource skills in the power sector.
