Authorities cleared mines planted on highway road in Shwebo

More than 100 handmade mines and related items that are planted by terrorists along the highway between Ye-U and Khin-U townships located in Shwebo District, Sagaing Region were removed and defused, according to the State Administration Council (SAC)’s information team.

The SAC information team made this announcement on September 26.

The security forces conducted the mine-clearance mission along the highway between Ye-U and Khin-U from September 21 to 25 as the public reported to the authorities about landmines.

The announcement said a total of 112 hand-made landmines, three hand-made short guns, four hand-made grenades, and related items were found and defused during the mission.

Along the highway between Ye-U and Khin-U, terrorists frequently commit attacking, shooting, and exploding against military vehicles and passenger vehicles. Terror acts along the road between July and September were 93 times, the SAC statement said.

Innocent civilians lost their lives and some are seriously wounded in the terror attack.

Authorities are carrying out necessary investigations to seize the terrorists who planted mines on the public road and the counter-terrorism forces will continue the mine-clearance operations.
