The Naypyidaw Prison Court charged another three years imprisonment to former State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi for taking bribery five hundred fifty thousand dollars from a prominent business tycoon Maung Weik, an owner of Say Paing Company.
The court made this decision today (October 12).
“She was filed and prosecuted under two corruption cases. She is sentenced to three years in prison term for both cases,” a source from the judicial pillar told NP News.
Suu Kyi will reportedly file an appeal for the case.
The State Administration Council made public a video file in 2021 in which Say Paing Company owner Maung Weik was admitting that he provided USD 550,000 to Suu Kyi to manage the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation.
Aung San Suu Kyi, 77 years old, has already been sentenced to 23 years imprisonment in other cases including four corruption charges.
Therefore, the total prison sentence is now 26 years altogether so far.
