According to Major General Zaw Min Tun, the monthly electricity bill for the Maravijaya Buddha Image Park charges ranging from 1500 to 2000 lakhs of MMK which isn’t paid from the State budget.

He told this information during the press conference held on August 22 in Naypyidaw.

At the time being, visitors and pilgrims are allowed to visit for prayer FOC up to September 3.

However, the pagoda trustee will collect ‘visit charges’ and ‘entrance charges’ after September 3 for maintaining and cleaning operations for the long term.

Major General Zaw Min Tun said, “It (the electricity bill) costs from 1500 to 2000 lakhs of kyat. It isn’t involved other costs. We have to hire staff for cleaning and other operations. There might be 600 or 700 staff we need to hire. It isn’t possible to use those costs from the State budget. None of the pagodas uses its respective cost from the State budget.”

Entrance charges for an adult and a child are 1000 MMK respectively; and 5000 MMK for taking phones and cameras into the pagoda.

The grand opening of the Maravijaya Buddha Image Park was held on August 1. Starting from August 8, public has been allowed to visit.
