Former KNU chairman, Army Chief meet in Naypyidaw

It is reported that the Army Chief met with former KNU chairman Saw Mutu Say Poe in Naypyidaw on 30th September, according to the news released by the State Administration Council.

Together with the Chairman of the SAC Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Lieutenant General Ye Win Oo, the Chairman of NSPNC Lt-Gen Yar Pyae , and other senior military officers attended the meeting.

Together with the former KNU chairman Saw Mu Tu Sai Po, the former KNU Central Executive Committee member Saw Raja Khin, and Kawkareik District chairman Pado Shwe Moung attended the meeting.

It is reported that they discussed the matters relating to peace processes.

Pado Saw Shwe Moung stated,.“We talk for internal peace. We have to bring progress for peacebuilding. Those who are fighting will be insisted to stop fighting. Because of those who go fighting, the war continued and peace is far away. Therefore, we have to insist those who go for war to stop fighting.”

He continued saying that the peace talk resulted in good potential.

The former KNU chairman Saw Mutu Say Poe has a very good relationship with the SAC Chairman Army Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

The Chairman of Arakan Front Party Dr. Aye Maung said to NP News that the meeting between the Army Chief and former KNU Chairman may pave a good and positive attribution for 8th NCA Anniversary and other peace processes.

Dr. Aye Maung said “SAC needs to empower the former KNU chairman to be able to serve as a good catalyst for the peace process. He has close relationships with other NCA non-signatories. He is a very well-experienced man in the field of ethnic armed revolutionary process. Trust building is critical for civil-military interactions and also between Military and EAOs. Myanmar’s peace should be initiated starting from this platform.”

He also commented that the meeting between the Army Chief and the former KNU chairman is a very constructive step for peacebuilding.
