50-bedded hospitals to be upgraded with laboratory and X-ray facilities

The Union Minister for Health has committed to upgrading 50 beds and above hospitals equipping them with laboratory and X-ray facilities.

Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win said it during his meeting with responsible personnel from the 300-bedded Pyin Oo Lwin People’s Hospital in Mandalay Region, on 1st October.

The Health Union Minister also emphasized that essential medicines and medical equipment required for healthcare services are receiving increased support compared to the past.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the ministry is taking steps to reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for the public and is endeavoring efforts to enhance the systematic organization of the private healthcare service sector.

He further stated that hospitals with 50 beds or more will undergo upgrades, including the addition of laboratory and X-ray facilities, as well as specialized healthcare services. Additionally, ongoing efforts are being made to enhance the capacity building of medical personnel.

It is also noted that the State is providing support to healthcare service providers, including an honorarium for their expertise and professions.

He also emphasized the need for a more effective healthcare service for the people, highlighting that in addition to medicine and medical supplies, human resources and healthcare budgets also require more systematic management through a collective effort.
