Pilot project of taking census started in 20 townships

It has been reported that pilot project of taking census has been started in 20 townships commencing on October 1 across the country.

The State Administration Council announced that the national census will be taken in 2024.

Therefore, the pilot project in 20 townships is the steering program of taking 2024 national census, an official from Immigration and People Power Department told NP News.

“From today to October 15, the pilot project will be carried out in some townships in states and regions. It is the test program ahead of 2024 national census,” he said.

Sample questionnaires and standard operating procedures have been practiced in the trial program in 20 townships.

National censuses were taken in Myanmar in 1973, 1983 and 2014.

Based on the 2024 national census, voter list will be prepared for the upcoming general election, as per the information released by the SAC.
