Students flee in Hpakant due to crossfire between Tatmadaw, KIA/PDF forces

The armed exchange occurring between Myanmar military and joint forces of KIA and PDF terrorists in Hpakant, Kachin State forced students fleeing and running away to escape from schooling.

As per information from local people, it is said that there was a crossfire between the Myanmar military and the KIA and PDF terrorists at Sai Taung Village in Hpakant Township, Kachin State on 3rd October.

“It started from 12 noon to 4 o’clock this afternoon. Now the shootings have stopped. Crossfire took place inside the village from one side to the other”, one of the local villagers from Sai Taung Village said.

Because of the fire exchange, the students studying at the Sai Taung Primary School have to run for their lives in the middle of their studies.

“The crossfire took place inside the village. It is also close to the school. The fire exchange happened very close to the school. Therefore, the students have to run away to escape. As far as I have heard, there is no casualties.” he added.

It is reported that due to the armed clashes between KIA-PDF affiliated group and the Myanmar military, one civilian house was burnt down.
