Many people join celebration of 10th International Yoga Day in Yangon

The 10th celebration of International Yoga Day (IDY) was held on 21 June at Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium in Yangon and 600 enthusiasts including prominent Myanmar nationals, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and members of the Indian diaspora joined.

The celebration was organized by the Embassy of India in Myanmar. During the celebration, the Ambassador of India to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur delivered the welcome speech emphasizing the vital role in fostering health and well-being.

The IDY events were also held at iconic locations across Myanmar including People’s Park, Kandawgyi Lake and Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Mandalay Hill, U Bein Bridge and Mandalay Palace in Mandalay, Uppatasanti Pagoda and Maravijaya Garden in Naypyidaw and Bagan World Heritage Site.

This year (June 2024), around 600 enthusiasts joined the Yoga events in respective region organized by the Indian Embassy and respective Yoga organization.

The 10th IDY events were successfully held from 1 to 24 June 2024 with 17 special sessions across Myanmar.

In 2023, only 50 enthusiasts involved in the 9th IDY held at the Kandawgyi Lake. In 2024, the number of enthusiasts surged to 600 in Yangon.
