In Kyaukme, the TNLA soldiers are mixing with refugees and civilians in the guise of neutral publics since Tatmadaw is accelerating military measures. Concerns have risen among locals upon TNLAs’ masquerading, a Kyaukme resident told The NP News.
The Ta’ang armed group TNLA initiated military assaults in June and claimed the seizure of Kyaukme Town in late June. However, since then, the Kyaukme residents displaced as they do not wish to stay under the TNLA ruling.
“They (TNLAs) changed uniforms and pretended as the civilians within the city. They are mixing with the civilians in the guise of neutral people,” the resident said.
Due to the Tatmadaw’s military operations, the TNLAs are trying to hide their troop numbers and therefore they mix themselves with the civilians, said the source continuing that “They hide their weapons in the luggage and entering in the city as the refugee impostors. What we are worried about is if the refugee camps became the targets because of the TNLAs.”
In Kyaukme, TNLAs are imposing high taxes among the public.
