Fighting has intensified again within Rakhine State, with clashes occurring near Ann city since the morning of Friday (September 27) according to a resident.
“Yesterday, there was fighting after the troops moved out. Both sides have about a hundred fighters engaged in the battle. Our military intelligence reports to the Deputy Commander of the Command in Ann that the AA has infiltrated. He did not believe that information, which is why fighting is occurring now,” said a local military source from Ann.
"Currently, clashes are taking place in Ywarthayar village, located on the Ann-Sittwe Road near the 373rd Infantry Battalion base."
A local military source from Ann reported that “On September 25, the AA forces entered the village and took children away, causing Rakhine women crying and grieving. The Deputy Commander of the Command in Ann has not acknowledged this news, and currently, clashes are happening at the checkpoint in Ywarthayar village."
The fighting began in the morning on September 27 and is ongoing, with heavy artillery being fired from within Ann city. Currently, locals are unable to travel to the area of conflict, and it is reported that the Am airport has also been closed.
"At present, residents from nearby villages are moving into Am city using different types of vehicles. A significant number of refugees have also arrived in Ann, and it is reported that the fighting may continue for several days."
