Lynn/ Munich (NP News) - Oct 7

It is reported that the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) has invited signatories of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) to attend the ceremony celebrating the 9th anniversary of the signing.

The event celebrating the 9th anniversary of the NCA signing is scheduled to take place in Naypyidaw on October 15.

It is reported that the government has invited Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) that signed the NCA to attend the event, as well as signatories who participated as witnesses in the NCA.

A source affiliated with the NSPNC told NP News, "For the anniversary celebration, we will invite the EAOs, as well as the signatories. We usually invite U Aung Min and others who have participated in the NCA. Furthermore, political parties will also be invited, with the UEC handling those invitations. We aim to invite all those who signed the NCA, including witnesses."

KNU/KNLA Peace Council’s Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt also confirmed to NP News that the government has individually invited the EAOs that signed the NCA to attend the event.

Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt mentioned, "Invitations have been received. As usual, each group is invited individually, similar to last year. An event is scheduled for the afternoon, and there are plans to conduct a workshop to mark the 9th anniversary as part of the celebration."

During the 8th anniversary ceremony of the NCA signing held in Naypyidaw in 2023, former Vice President Dr. Sai Mauk Kham, former KNU chairperson Saw Mu Tu Say Poe, and representatives from India, China, and Thailand, who participated as witnesses to the NCA, were also present.

The NCA was signed in the presence of international witnesses by the government, parliament, military, and ten ethnic armed groups.

In Myanmar, among the various ethnic armed organizations, only the KNU, NCF, ABSDF, RCSS, PNLO, ALP, NMSP, LDU, DKBA and KNU/KNLA-PC signed the NCA.

At present, among ten ethnic armed groups that signed the NCA, the KNU, CNF, and ABSDF have withdrawn from the NCA path and are actively opposing the current State Administration Council government.
