Phyo/ Cherry (NP News) - Feb 12
A local informed the NP News that the renovation work at the Loikaw University is being carried out to be completed within this year, and the remnant mines have also been systematically cleared.
Currently, the authorities are working specifically on the reconstruction of Kayah State, and efforts are also being made to carry out renovation work to reopen Loikaw University.
In the process of renovation, efforts are being made to fully repair the damage caused by the conflicts, and there is also a process of rebuilding the destroyed infrastructures, according to the source.
"Loikaw University is still under renovation currently. It is expected to be completed around August or October this year. Everything will be completed. As for the remnant mines, they have been cleared thoroughly," said the aforementioned source.
It is reported that although explosions were heard in some areas of Loikaw city where mines set by the KNDF and PDF armed groups were being cleared, no such sounds were heard within the university compound.
"Around the university, we haven’t heard much of explosion of the remnant mines. It seems like they are clearing it thoroughly. However, in the wards, sometimes we did hear explosion sounds from some unexpected places," the local explained.
Although Loikaw University has not yet been reopened, it is reported that some other high schools in Loikaw city have already been reopened.
It is also reported that in order to reopen Loikaw University, the necessary educational materials must first be provided.
