The Indian Embassy in Myanmar clarified on the evening of April 7 that a post by Kiran Verma who claimed himself as an Indian aid worker criticizing the State Administration Council government was merely his personal opinion.
Kiran Verma, an Indian YouTuber and founder of the blood donation organization Simply Blood, arrived in Myanmar on March 31 to help with the earthquake that hit on March 28, but left on April 3 and shared a post criticizing the Myanmar government on social media.
The post, which was amplified by Exile Media in both English and Japanese, went viral across various social media platforms.
As a result, the Indian Embassy in Myanmar clarified that Kiran Verma's statement was his personal opinion and had no connection with the Indian government.
In addition, the Indian Embassy in Myanmar has also advised Indian citizens to refrain from reporting on news media in Myanmar without prior permission from the relevant Myanmar authorities.
Under the Indian embassy's post, Kiran Verma wrote that he had visited Myanmar of his own will, that he did not anticipate that the post he shared would escalate the matter. He also apologized for any inconvenience caused.
In addition, following the embassy's advice, Verma stated that he would not further discuss the matter, and although his intentions were always to wish the best for Myanmar, the situation unexpectedly became complicated. He also expressed his apologies if this had caused any disappointment for India.–
