Phyo (NP News)- May 25
The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC), Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, stated that conducting national affairs through an elected government is best for the country, on the first day of the SAC’s work coordination meeting, held on Tuesday, May 19.
He also emphasized the need for a fair and successful election, stating that it would be best if elections could be held nationwide.
However, he noted that, just as full implementation was not achieved during the multiparty democratic general elections in 2010, 2015, and 2020, elections during the era of the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL) were also conducted amid various challenges.
The SAC Chairman stated that the Constitution outlines quorum requirements for convening Parliament in Articles 85, 128, and 155, and affirmed that elections can be successfully conducted in accordance with the relevant laws.
He also emphasized that the Constitution provides for elections to be held based on the decision of the National Defense and Security Council (NDSC).–
