The Central Working Committee of the National League for Democracy released a statement yesterday (May 1) that no team is assigned to compromise with the State Administration Council or the body organized by the SAC.

The statement was posted on the Facebook page of the NLD.

Paragraph 1 of the statement said, “During the period of when the party cannot convene an assembly as the CEC members and the chairperson are illegally arrested, no person or team is assigned to meet or negotiate or compromise with the military council or an organization or body organized by the military council on behalf of the NLD.”

Paragraph 2 said, “If any attempt is made by the military council to connect or coordinate with the international organizations and embassies by using the name of the NLD because the military council is trying to convene the election as its political exit, the NLD hereby declares those undertakings are nothing to do with the NLD.”

The NLD has not come to the designated place to be examined by the Union Election Commission on the party’s organizational structure, accounts, or other financial commitments.

The UEC told during the press conference held in recent days in Naypyidaw, that the commission decided to wait for a while giving an extended period to the NLD before June 30 as it acknowledges that the party (NLD) finds difficulties at the moment to come to be examined and audited.

“The Union Election Commission decided to provide some more time to the NLD as some of its CEC members have been arrested while some are running away; some members can’t be contacted. Thus, the NLD finds difficulties in collecting data to be examined,” the UEC member Khin Maung Oo said during the press conference.

A total of ten political parties have not yet been examined by the UEC, some parties contacted and reported their experiencing difficulties, according to the UEC.
