Planning Ministry establishes committee to research for collecting taxes on electronic items

A working committee was formed on April 1 by the Ministry of Planning and Finance to conduct researches on necessary information to prohibit illegal imports of phone handsets, computer and other electronic devices so as to levy full taxes.
The committee is organized by seven members and chaired by Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance Ministry Maung Maung Win.
The committee is assigned to find ways that are suitable for the country in collecting taxes on the electronic devices, phones and computer and to coordinate with other departments, businesses and telecom operators in preventing the illegal imports.
Rules and regulations, orders, notifications or directives will be released in the future according to the proposals and researches that will be submitted by the committee.
