Toru Kubota enters into country by tour visa, taking part in protest plan

The Japanese national Toru Kubota who was recently detained by the Myanmar authority on Saturday entered Yangon by tourist visa via the Thai border on July 1, 2022, authorities said.

He made an appointment with the protestors to meet at the protest site, he confessed.

Toru Kubota was detained by the authorities while he was filming the protest that took place in South Dagon Township of Yangon on July 31 together with phones and cameras.

Currently, he is detained and charged for breaching Section 13(1) of the Immigration Law, violating the visa regulations, and under Section 505 (a), authorities told the local media.
