RCSS releases SSPP, TNLA prisoners from northern conflict

Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) held a prisoner transferring ceremony on August 6 at the headquarters of the RCSS located in Loi Tai Leng in which a total of 24 – members of Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) were released, according to the RCSS announcement.
Released prisoner involved 18 from the SSPP troop members, five SSPP informants, and one TNLA troop member.
The prisoners were detained as just it was the conflict period. Now they were released and can return home, the RCSS’ vice-chair 1 Lieutenant General Sai Yi said.
The vice-chair of the RCSS continued that fire exchanging rarely occurred between the Shan ethnics before. However, divide and rule as northern group and southern group of Shan EAOs flame hatred so that occurring armed clashes among each other.
Clashes will make losses for Shan ethnics, he said.
Hopes arise for lessening conflicts among Shan ethnics thanks to this prisoner release.
