Kawkareik shooting between military, KNLA left casualties plus collateral damages

Fire exchange occurred between the Defense Services and Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in Kawkareik, Kayin State yesterday (August 15) at an estimated 10 am.
With approximately 100 forces, the KNLA raided Kawkareik district police headquarters and Kawkareik township police headquarters, a local source told NP News.
At least, six of the police forces died in the clash.
The KNLA also raided the security forces which guard the Myanma Economic Bank located on Kawkareik City at the same time, in which, one security force member died and three civilians injured, the source continued.
The KNU announced that a total of 12 from the State Administration Council side (including Defense Services and police forces) were killed the Kawkareik shooting. Six firearms were seized. Township legal officer and an office staff were captured alive.
SAC’s Information Team has not released statement on the Kawkareik shooting yet.
