Peace process formulation shall follow provisos of Constitution and NCA – Army Chief

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing told that formulation of the peace process shall be following terms and provisions of the 2008 Constitution and the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services told this message during the second-round of the peace meeting with the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) that was held in Naypyidaw yesterday (August 29).

The RCSS’ chairman General Yawd Serk also told during the talk that dialogue and compromise is the best suitable mean to resolve the current political crisis, and it is important to build mutual trust between all sides.

Delegation teams led by the Commander-in-Chief and Shan General Yawd Serk respectively exchanged opinions for building federal union, building multi-party democratic system, protecting and resettlement of the IDPs, regional development plans, and resolving the current crisis together in peaceful ways, according to the statement released by the RCSS.

The country shall be building the State as per the expected design with no deviating from the national identity and culture, the Army Chief said.

“There are many nations which is practicing the democracy and federal system on the world. The system that we are formulating has to be fit with our geography situation, and that federal system that we are going to exercise has to be as per our national identity and cultures,” Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.

The Restoration Council of Shan State continues meeting with the government’s peace delegation teams led by Lit. Gen. Yar Pyae on next days.

First time of the peace talk between the RCSS and the government was held in May. ‘Many constructive peace progresses were made between us,’ the Army Chief remarked then.
