Armed conflicts between Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA) take up again in Rakhine State since mid of August. Three civilians including a child lost their lives in the shelling of the artillery in Mrauk-U.
The explosion occurred in Kinseik Village located in Mrauk-U due to the artillery shelling on August 28 evening.
Myat Thu Lin (4 years old) and Aye Nu Yin (66 years old) died at the scene while a 40 years old man died at the hospital during treatment. At least ten civilians including Buddhist monks and novices were injured in the incident, residents say.
The UNOCHA stated that there are nearly 5,500 people who remain displaced in Paletwa township, Chin State, since the beginning of August 2022 after the reoccurrence of the armed clashes between Tatmadaw and the AA.
Although politicians of the Rakhine ethnics urged to make negotiations and bilateral peace talks between the Myanmar Military and the AA for the sake of the people, tensions between both sides have become more intense.
Truce had been made between Tatmadaw and the AA in 2020. However, fire exchanging flares up again in Rakhine State recently.
