Polices installed with modern riot control weapons: Deputy Army Chief

According to Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win, police forces have been equipped and modernized with advanced riot control weapons and rifles.
The Deputy Army Chief told this information at the event celebrating the 58th Myanmar Police Forces day on October 1.
The police forces have to implement its duties and responsibilities so as to fulfill its objectives by taking advantages of advanced technologies in the technology era, Vice Senior-General Soe Win said.
Advanced weapons including modern automatic rifles and riot-control weapons were installed Myanmar Police Forces instead of obsolete weapons, the Deputy Army Chief continued.
Advanced forensic laboratory equipment, DNA testing machines and related specific forensic equipment, communication devices, mobile X-ray vehicles, motor vehicles and motorcycles were reportedly upgraded and developed to the police forces.
Currently, there are more than 180,000 policemen in Myanmar.
Vice-Senior General Soe Win encouraged the MPF officers and staffs to make sure themselves, with accountability and responsibility, as the law-abiding police officers whom the public can rely.
The Myanmar Police Force has been expanded new units including the lecturing department in the Civil Service Academies; one new department at the Police Headquarters; one squadron of device-detective forces and six platoons in Anti-narcotic Task Force; one police outpost and a regional police station by the State Administration Council.
The SAC recently expanded new 46 districts where there were formerly 75 districts nationwide. Therefore, there are a total of 121 districts nationwide.
