Traffickers who sell three Myanmar girls sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with labour

The information team of the State Administration Council released a press statement on 20th October that the human traffickers who sold three girls including, a 13-year-old girl, to a Chinese man were sentenced to ten years imprisonment with hard labour.

The couple traffickers Hla Myaing and his wife Mi Nyeit, who lived at Ward No (2), Kyaungkone Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, persuaded three girls from the same town; two in their teenage 13 and 15 each, and the rest in her twenties and trafficked, the SAC statement says.

Three trafficking victims were deceived that they will get a job with a salary of 200,000 kyats per month at a garment factory near Muse express gate. However, the girls were sold to a Chinese man, the SAC stated.

The couple who committed the human trafficking against three young girls were prosecuted under Sections 24/32 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law at Pathein District Court in February.

On 14th October, the court charged ten years imprisonment with hard labour to each trafficker.
