Kawkareik-Myawaddy Asia Road traffic alleviated after five day blockade

Temporarily traffic jam congested along Kawkareik-Myawaddy Asia Highway due to armed clashes was released on 23nd October into regular route after five days blockade, according to Kawkareik residents.
On 18th October afternoon, fire exchanges occurred between Tatmadaw and insurgents on the Kawkareik-Myawaddy Road near Tawnaw waterfall; and therefore, authorities banned passing through passenger trucks and commodity trucks.
“We see cars were transporting along the road yesterday evening,” a resident told on 23rd October continuing that it’s getting back to normal situation this morning. No more shooting is heard this morning.
Hundreds of Myanmar nationals who are travelling to Thailand for employment under MoU have been stuck on the way in the traffic nearly five days.
On 21st October morning, joint forces of KNLA (armed wing of the Karen National Union) and the PDF attacked Kawkareik city with massive forces in which civilian casualties occurred.
Currently, Kawkareik city returns to normal situations under full and stable control by Tatmadaw and border guard forces.
