Troops salvage 26 from PDF detention camp in Sagaing; capture weapons

The Military’s rescue mission salvaged a total of 26 abductees who were detained by the PDF in Yinmabin, Sagaing Region on 24th October, according to the statement released by the State Administration Council.

The SAC released a press statement on the rescue operation on 25th October.

26 detainees; altogether seven women, four children, and 15 men including civilians, servicemen, and polices were abducted by the PDF in villages located in Pale township in Yinmabin district, Sagaing Region. Some of them had been detained for nearly a year.

One of the detainees is reportedly the wife of an army officer.

The Myanmar military launched a rescue operation on the 19th and 20th of October with a commando force to search and rescue the detainees in Yinbaungtaing and Shwehlan villages located within Yinmabin district.

During the operation on 19th and 20th October, only terrorists and weapons were seized death; and didn’t found any detainee, the statement said.

The commando forces launched the second rescue mission on 25th October. The forces raided the PDF camp in surrounding villages and retrieved the abductees.

Some abductees were even wounded since the terrorists sabotaged the detention house when fleeing during the raid by the counter-terrorism forces.

Wounded abductees are now at the hospital getting medical treatment.

“Tatmadaw security forces will carry out, in accordance with Counter-Terrorism Law, Penal Codes and other related legal provisions, the counter-terrorism action against the terrorists who committed war-crime by violating the Geneva Convention, arresting and assaulting the innocent civilians, civil servants, women and children,” the SAC statement expresses.
