Hsu/Tun MT (NP News) - Oct 27
The Spokesperson of the State Administration Council (SAC) Major General Zaw Min Tun said that it is vivid that the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has a close connection with the groups declared as terrorists and it can be found that they are conducting the terrorist acts together.
He addressed it in his reply to the questions raised by Hong Kong-based CNN International news agency concerning the airstrike on KIA Brigade 9th Headquarter on 23rd October.
Any list of civilian names is witnessed in the fatalities as per the announcement made by the KIA; but only KIA’s personnel at the rank of Brigade Commander, deputy-brigade commander, and circuit commander; and PDF and NLD members were involved, Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said.
“As names of some NLDs and PDFs were found, they would be connected with groups declared as terrorist groups. So, it is obvious that they were jointly committing terrorist acts,” he said.
KIA is giving military training to the PDF, especially in Sagaing Region. In addition, they are supporting weapons, ammunition and mines to these terrorist groups since most of the captured weapons in Mandalay, Sagaing and others are produced by the KIA.
“Hence, the Tatmadaw had to launch a necessary military operation,” he said.
He also said that the Myanmar military has valid evidence and documentation on how KIA officers got involved in terrorist acts conducted in Sagaing, Mandalay and other regions.
