Ex-police leads in Kyaiktiyo Pagoda shooting

The State Administration Council (SAC) released a press statement on 31 October that an ex-police who absconded and became a confidante of the former Mon State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan led and directed the plot of recent deadly and terror shooting at Kyaiktiyo Pagoda’s Kinpun base camp.
On 12 October, terrorists targeted and shot civilian pilgrims at Kyaiktiyo Pagoda in which four died and 18 others were injured.
As per the investigations, eyewitnesses and evidence, the ex-police Aye Min Tun led the plot. He took shelter under KNU brigade 1 and formed Kyaikhto Revolutionary Forces (KRF), according to the SAC statement.
The driver of Mon State’s former Chief Minister, NUG’s armed forces and Commander of Battalion 3 of Brigade 1 of the KNU involved in the terror plot, the SAC announced.
Former parliamentarians of Mon State Hluttaw including Dr. Khin Saung, Hla Myint Than and Thiri Yadanar, and businessmen namely Kyaw Myo Min, Aung Kyaw Thu and Khin Toe are reportedly involved in the deadly terror plot.
According to the SAC, the KRF committed terrorist acts within Kyaikhto city.
