A Buddhist monk and a civilian wounded in crossfire in Tamu

The State Administration Council (SAC) released a press statement that a Buddhist monk and a civilian were injured during the crossfire between security forces and #terrorists in #Tamu township, #Sagaing Region on 30 October.

The press statement was released on 31st October.

According to the statement, authorities and security forces received information that #terrorists arrived in No. 10 and 11 wards in Tamu township intended to commit the terror deeds. Therefore, the counter-terrorism forces left for those areas to conduct anti-terrorism actions.

Fire exchanging occurred after the terrorists started shooting targeting the security forces when they arrived near ‘Aung Taw Mu Monastery’ in No 10 ward. The terrorists reportedly withdrew from the back lane of the ‘Aung Taw Mu Monastery’ heading to Myanmar-India border area, according to the statement.

The terrorists recklessly committed gun violence against the civilian houses from the surrounding on their way back in retreating, the statement said. A Buddhist monk from ‘Aung Taw Mu Monastery’ namely Sayadaw Sudathana, 42 and a civilian Aung Thiha, 28 were wounded in their arm, elbow and abdomen.

The security forces sent the injured persons to Tamu Public Hospital to give medical treatment.

Authorities and security forces are conducting and investigating the necessary measures to take action against the terrorists.
