Taunggyi to hold Tazaungdaing festival from November 7-9

Shan State Capital Taunggyi will be re-holding the Tazaungdaing festival for three days from November 7 to 9 after a two-year suspension in 2020 and 2021.

The Buddhist country ‘Myanmar’ has been suspending the celebration of culturally and religiously associated festivals since early 2020 by the NLD ruling government. Now its traditional festivals are back to resume.

There will be candlelight offerings and the Mathoe Robe Weaving celebration at the Sulamuni Pagoda in Taunggyi on 7th November.
Market stalls will be opened at the fire-balloon releasing field in Taunggyi known as ‘Awaiyar field’.

Awards will also be rewarded to the winners in the competition of decorated fire balloons in the daytime competition. Those who want to run in the competition shall submit the application forms to the competition by 5th November at ward administrators or the fire-balloon expert association.
