Planning/Finance Ministry exempts zero tariffs on electric cars

The #Ministry_of_Planning_and_Finance (MOPF) reduces tariff exemptions to zero percent on imported #electric_vehicles.
The electric automobiles that will be imported with Completely Built Up – #CBU system, Completely Knocked Down – #CKD system and Semi-knocked Down – #SKD system are involved in #zero_tariff exemption by the MOPF.
Road tractor for Semi-trailer, bus, motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more person including the driver, truck, motor vehicles for the transport person, three-wheeled vehicles for transport of person, three-wheeled vehicles for transport of goods, electric motorcycle, electric bicycle, ambulances, prison vans and hearses involve in the MOPF’s zero tariffs scheme for the electric vehicles.
“Yes, it is right that we exempt the imported electric vehicles to zero tariffs,” Director of the MOPF Win Htike confirmed NP News.
Related spare parts, materials, chargers and other necessary parts that have technical recommendations provided by the MOPF to import also include in this tariff exempt scheme.
The newly developed tariff scheme started enforcement on 2nd November 2022 until 31st March 2023.
The State Administration Council recently formed a committee to develop policies on import of electric cars. The committee is led by Lieutenant General Mya Tun Oo.
What is more, the SAC is scheming to construct five charging stations along the Yangon-Mandalay express way. Each charging station is expected to host around 50 vehicles.
