Multitudinous weapons seized by military in Hopong, Shan State

The State Administration Council released a press statement on December 18 that a massive number of #weapons were seized in #Hopong Township, Southern Shan State.

The truck stealthily carrying mass numbers of weapons and ammunitions was captured near Maingpying Village Track in Hopong Township, Southern Shan State. Upon the information on the arrival of that truck near the village, the security forces were able to seize it in timely manner on 17 December, the statement said.

On December 17 at an estimated 9 am when the security forces were conducting the security measures near Maingpying Village Track that was two miles away from far-east of Sawtaw Village, a suspicious blue colour six-wheeled vehicle was driving leading to Pinn Phyit Village in Lawksawk Township located in Panglong. The security forces tried to stop that vehicle as it seemed suspected. The vehicle drove away. Therefore, the security forces chased it. Finally, the vehicle was seized by the security forces. However, the terrorists were escaped.

From that vehicle, 499 of Type-81 Rifles its 498 cartridges and their related items were seized by the security forces, according to the SAC statement.

The captured weapons and related items are reportedly being categorized and conducted necessary procedures.
