Myanmar establishes Committee on China-Myanmar Economic Corridor

The Committee on #China_Myanmar_Economic_Corridor (CMEC) was formed in recent months by the State Administration Council.
The committee is composed of 24 members, mostly ministers, deputy ministers, and other states/regions cabinet members. The committee is led by the Union Minister for Planning and Finance Ministry Win Shein with ministers in recent months.
The committee is appointed to formulate effective economic development projects for both China and Myanmar mutually; to exchange experiences and to study and propose development projects on the economic corridor.
In addition, the CMEC is responsible for being accountable and reporting to the two governments.
China's direct investment in Myanmar in 2021 was 3.99 billion USD, according to data from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.
